Portrait of Lennart Altgenug

Lennart Altgenug has worked as a composer for several short films, including the films entitled Anton and Gameboy, which were featured on the Netherlands Film Festival 2014. Gameboy also won the Topkapi award 2014 for best fiction film.

In addition to composing for films, Lennart has been composing and arranging for many ensembles. He has written four compositions for string quartet which have been performed at the Grachtenfestival 2013.

In 2012, he had the opportunity to make an arrangement for the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw which was performed at the Bimhuis with Dick Oatts as guest soloist.

In 2013, he participated in the finals of the International Jazzhaus Piano Competition in Freiburg. The latest musical project he participated in was the CD recording of the project „Birth and Death of a Star“ by composer and bassist Nelson Ogliastri. He recently recorded an album called „Memory Lane“ featuring his original compositions.

Lennart has earned a Bachelor‘s Degree in jazz piano, and a Masters Degree in Composing for film from the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Besides being a composer, he is also active as a pianist in various bands.

For the past two years, Lennart has been living in Mumbai (India), first as the head of the piano department at The True School of Music, then as performer and composer for a variety of short films and series for Indian television.
